Myopia control
What is Myopia control for children?
Myopia (nearsightedness) is becoming more common in children—and it can progress quickly as they grow. Myopia is when distance vision is blurry. It is caused by genetic and environmental factors. Once myopia starts at a young age it usually gets worse. The concern is the long term effects of myopia. Most common complication of myopia is retinal detachment and glaucoma with older age. Myopia control treatments are methods used by eye doctors to help prevent the prescription from worsening. Our aim is to try to keep the prescription below –3.50. The treatments for myopia control can vary from daily eye drops, rigid contacts or soft daily contacts.
At Ooh La La Optometry, we offer myopia control with MiSight® 1 day contact lenses, an FDA-approved option designed to slow the progression of myopia in children.
